I visited Barcelona last week for a short family holiday. We did all the usual art stuff (Gaudi and the Early Picasso museum etc) but as a bonus we were treated to some really nice examples of modern street art.

I noticed that Graffiti artists seemed to have quite good etiquette in Barcelona rarely defacing any of the most beautiful old buildings. In Leicester you can see some shameless examples of people drawing tags in permanent marker on some of our grandest Victorian buildings.
A lot of the street art in Barcelona was on doors and the metal screens which cover shop fronts, so was it much less invasive. I'm sure public perceptions of graffiti must be a bit different there as a result. It was good to see how street art can improve the environment turning an otherwise barren courtyard with a crumbling wall into something more special.
